 This site contains code authored outside of RainTraipsing covered by other licenses, such as the Carto.net ColorPicker mechanism and the $C javascript function by Binny V Abraham. Please see the specific license information for such components:

RainTraipsing creations we call "code"
 Regarding scripts, codes and programs that are authored by RainTraipsing: They are under the BSD License. Please note that this license is only for the RainTraipsing-authored codes available from this site. The license does not apply to

  • The textual contents displayed on this site.
  • The graphics appearing on this site, even though they are defined through SVG code.
  • The animations appearing on this site, even though they are defined through SVG code or javascript code.
  • Code authored by someone other than RainTraipsing.

Notice that we are drawing a distinction between code and the appearance of images/animations resulting from the code.

All RainTraipsing "code" is under BSD
 Using the definition of RainTraipsing "code" as explained in the section above, such code is under the BSD license. This means....

  • You may copy, reproduce, upload, post, distribute, republish, or retransmit the code on this site, but...
    • You cannot claim authorship, and
    • You cannot violate RainTraipsing's reserved intellectual rights to the appearance of the resulting SVG images and animations.
    This above bullet is the trickiest... and we explain it below in RainTraipsing's rights to "SVG Visuals".

  • You may download and modify in any way the "code."
    In fact, this is a time-honored method of evolving knowledge within the open source community. Once you make enough modifications to the code such that the resulting 'visual' is no longer recognizable as a RainTraipsing creation (or a simple derivative thereof) then the provisos no longer apply. The visual creation becomes your own and you can remove the RainTraipsing copyright from said visual. However, note that the BSD license may still apply to portions of the code.

RainTraipsing's Rights to "SVG Visuals"
 We define this site's "SVG Visuals" to be the resulting image and/or its animation as it appears in a SVG-enabled browser or device, or rasterized reproductions of such visuals (such as jpeg 'snapshots'). RainTraipsing reserves all rights including reproduction rights to the "SVG Visuals" created by us.
Unlike the underlying code which is in BSD license, the resulting appearance is not under BSD license. However, we do grant some restricted reproduction rights as described below.

Using the definition of RainTraipsing "SVG Visuals" as opposed to "code" we describe the following copyright restrictions for particular "SVG Visuals" on our site:

  • RainTraipsing Logo (bird with cherry branch)
    A trademark of RainTraipsing.com. May not be reproduced without prior written permission from RainTraipsing.

  • SVG Logo (snowflake design, orange white and black)
    (This is not a RainTraipsing creation.) For more on the official SVG logo, please go to SVG Logo Project site. This logo is under the Creative Commons license for those who have an SVG product or who are using SVG on their site.

  • Mermaid
    May be reproduced as long as Provisos are met.

  • Girl 'model' or other 'models' as they may be posted on this site in the future.
    May be reproduced as long as Provisos are met.

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) on right side of LaPlaya Game display.
    Mannequin and all visual components other than the ColorPicker and scroll-bars... may not be reproduced without prior written permission from RainTraipsing. For clarification, please see copyright overview illustration below.

Provisos for Reproducible "SVG Visuals"
 For visuals described as "may be reproduced" in the above section.... we have the following provisos:

  • A clearly legible "copyright RainTraipsing.com" or "© RainTraipsing.com" notice must accompany visual.
  • The visual is not used on sites or in a fashion that can be considered defamatory or inappropriate for teenagers. (Think in terms of PG13 ratings or 'softer'.)
  • The visual is used in a non-commercial capacity, or if it does appear on a commercial site, it is not part of a money-making product.
  • If you do have expectations for using the visual in a money-making product, please contact RainTraipsing for arrangements.

$C javascript function
The $C function, by Binny V Abraham, is used within the LaPlaya Game's "rt_svg_manip.js" javascript file. This function provides a way to create DOM structures easily, and is under the BSD license as described below:

ColorPicker mechanism and Scrollbar objects
Javascript code for these features, by Andreas Neumann, is important to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) portion of the LaPlaya game. The code exists within the LaPlaya Game's "rt_svg_manip.js" file as well as additional js files by carto:net housed within the cn_js subdirectory on the RainTraipsing site. In that subdirectory is also a copy of the LGPL license which applies to this code.
